In 2003 and 2004, U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao hosted national Opportunity Conferences in Washington, D.C. In 2005, Secretary Chao hosted the regional Opportunity Conference in Chicago.  The 2006 Opportunity Conference was held in Philadelphia.  In 2007, the Opportunity Conference returns to Washington, D.C. on September 18.


Celebrating the contributions of the region's Asian Pacific, Hispanic and African American communities, the Opportunity Conference will emphasize key components of economic development and working with federal, state, and local government. Workshop topics will include access to capital, job training, financial literacy, understanding federal procurement opportunities, addressing the needs of workers with limited English proficiency and accessing faith-based and community grants.

METRO NOTE:  Due to the extremely limited availability of parking, we strongly recommend that all attendees take Metro to the Opportunity Conference.  There is a direct entrance to the Grand Hyatt Washington near the 11th Street Exit of the Metro Center station, which is serviced by the Red, Blue, and Orange Lines.
